What's Up Ambassadors

A What’sUp Ambassador is someone who helps raise awareness of safeguarding adults within the community. Ambassadors can be volunteers, members of faith or community groups, or anyone employed in the borough who wants to make a positive difference.

As a What’s Up Ambassador you will:

  • Receive free Eyes and Ears Safeguarding training
  • Get regular updates on key safeguarding topics
  • Share this knowledge with others in your community or workplace
  • Help people understand how to recognise the signs of abuse or neglect and know what to do if they’re worried about someone
  • Raise awareness that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

What'sUp Ambassador role

As an ambassador your role is to:

See the person

  • Treat everyone as an individual, with respect, dignity, and without judgment
  • Create a safe and welcoming environment where people feel comfortable discussing safeguarding concerns.

Listen deeply

  • Listen actively and empathetically to people’s worries or safeguarding concerns
  • Be a voice for those who may not feel able to speak up, ensuring everyone is heard and supported.

Know the place

  • Understand your team, community groups, or local area, and raise awareness of safeguarding within these spaces
  • Be familiar with your safeguarding policies, procedures, and how to raise a concern in your setting.

Do the right thing

Show our love and pride

  • Attend Eyes and Ears Training and be eager to learn and grow in your safeguarding knowledge and make a positive difference.

Connect to neighbourhoods

  • Build connections within your team and local community, sharing safeguarding information and resources
  • Join the safeguarding mail list to stay informed about topics and learning events and help others know who their What’sUp Ambassador or safeguarding lead is.
