Be safe while out and about

Reduce the chance of being bullied or harassed when you are out and about by taking a few precautions:

  • Plan your journey and route. Avoid dimly lit or quiet areas
  • Have a friend’s contact details on hand, just in case you need help
  • If you do not feel safe, make your way quickly to somewhere you can get help, for example, the local police station
  • Keep valuables out of sight
  • Don’t accept lifts from strangers or someone who you have only recently met
  • Know how to make an emergency call and be aware of quick exit routes
  • If possible, be accompanied by family and friends.
